Content
Script
Scripted by Dorrell Magown, Sewart Magown and Betty Burbridge, a singing cowboy decides to run for US Congress to receive federal assistance to small ranchers in restoring their water rights during the Dusty Cauldron . His campaign is met without enthusiasm by the leaders of the water company [2] .
History
Initially, it was planned that Gene Autry would appear in the film, but due to contract problems [4], the film company Ripablic Pictures decided to find him a replacement in the person of Leonard Sly [5] . The film was the first in Sly's career, where he starred under the pseudonym Roy Rogers. Horse , known from previous actor films as The golden cloud also immediately established itself as a movie character. Under the working title " Washington Cowboy , the film was shot in 9 days in the vicinity of Alabama Hills ( , California ) in early 1938. [5]
The premiere took place in April at the Dallas movie theater " Capitol . " According to the tradition of cinemas of those years, before the screening of the film, a vocal-instrumental group appeared on the scene - “ Sans of de Pioniers ", in which the actor was a member, and sang several songs. The ensemble also signed a contract with the film company for a period of 7 years, as musical accompaniment to Roy Rogers.
