Family
Her brother was Wilhelm I de Hainaut . Her nieces (daughters of Wilhelm) were Margaret I, Countess of Holland , who married the Holy Roman Emperor Louis IV ; and Philip Gennegau , who married Edward III, the King of England. Philip was the mother of nine children, including Edward the Black Prince , who in turn was the father of King Richard II of England and John Gaunt , father of King Henry IV of England, the founder of the Lancaster dynasty .
Marriage and Children
In September 1310, Maria d'Avent married Louis de Bourbon , son of Robert de Clemerton and Beatrice of Burgundy . They had eight children:

- Mary (1315–1387); 1st husband: from 1330 Guy de Lusignan (died before 1343), Prince of Galilee; 2nd husband: from 1347 Robert of Tarente (1326–1364), prince of Tarento

- Jacques (1318)
- Jacques I (1319–1362), comte de la Marsh from 1341, comte de Pontière 1351–1360
- Beatrice (1320-83); 1st husband: from 1335 John (Jan) Blind (1296–1346), king of the Czech Republic and count of Luxembourg ; 2nd husband: with approx. 1347 Ed II de Gransay (died after 1380), lord de Gransey [2] .
