Life
Margarita was the fifth child of Albrecht , Duke of Bavaria-Straubing, Count of Hainaut, Holland and Zealand, and Lord Frisia, and [5] .
In 1385, at a Burgundy double wedding in Cambrai, she married Jean, Count of Nevers , son and heir of Philip the Bold , Duke of Burgundy and Margarita Dampier , Countess of Flanders, Artois and Burgundy. At the same time, her brother William II, Duke of Bavaria , married Margaret of Burgundy . With the death of Philip the Bold in 1404 and Margarita Dampierre in 1405, Jean inherited these territories, and Margarita became his consort. They had seven daughters, but only one son - Philip the Good - who inherited these territories.
Children
Margarita and Jean had eight children:
- Margarita , Duchess of Guyenne and Montargis (1393 - February 2, 1442), from August 30, 1404 the wife of the Dauphin of France Louis ; from October 10, 1422, the wife of Arthur de Rishmon , a connable of France and the future duke of Brittany.
- Catherine (d. 1414)
- Mary (d. October 30, 1463). She was married to Adolf I, Duke of Cleves .
- Philip III the Good , heir to his father (1396-1467).
- Isabella , Countess of Pentyevra (d. September 18, 1412), from July 22, 1406 wife of Olivier de Chatillon-Blois, Count of Pentyev and Perigord.
- Jeanne (d. 1399), died young.
- Anna (1404 - November 14, 1432). She was married to John, the Duke of Bedford .
- Agnes (1407 - December 1, 1476). She was married to Charles I, Duke of Bourbon .
