The son of Gerardo III da Camino and his wife Alice da Vivaro.

In November 1295, he married Katerina von Ortenburg, a representative of a clan with whom his father was associated with general commercial affairs.

From 1301 - co-ruler of Gerardo III, from 1306 - his heir.

In 1309 (November 13), having been widowed, he married Giovanna Visconti (1298-1339), the titular judge of Gallura , with his second marriage.

In 1309, he fought with the Patriarch of Aquileia and under the terms of the peace treaty received from him the title of Captain-General Friul. However, after a quarrel with his main ally, Count Heinrich Goritsiysky, as a result of a popular uprising, he was expelled from all the conquered areas and returned to Treviso. Also, due to its inconsistent foreign policy, it lost the support of Venice.

In 1311, he joined the Ghibellines and received from the Emperor Henry VII the title of imperial vicar " vicarius civitatis Tervisii, territorii et districtus eiusdem " for life ( a vita ). This deprived him of the support of the Trevisan nobility, traditionally Guelph. He was also deprived of the managerial talents inherent in his father, and in addition to the end of his reign increased the tax burden for citizens.

On April 5, 1312, Rizzardo II, while playing chess in the loggia of his palace on Via S. Agostino, was mortally wounded in the head with “some villain” (“un villano”). The attacker was immediately killed by bodyguards. Versions about the initiators and customers of the assassination vary: representatives of the noble families Treviso and Padua are named, the ruler of Verona Cangrande I della Scala , and even the brother and heir of the victim - Gchevellone VII da Camino .

After being wounded, Rizzardo II lived a week and died on April 12, 1312.
