History of the Manor
The first mention of the manor dates back to 1586 [1] . In 1622 , she was granted by the Swedish king Gustav II Adolf to the noble family of Rammov [2] .
Before the expropriation of the manor and their lands, which began in 1919 , the owner of the manor was Baroness Sophie von Rosen (nee von Ramm) [2] [3] .
Since 2001 , the manor has been privately owned . Its owner was the Finn Timo Juhan Lemberg , who had previously sold his plastic manufacturing company to Ensto [4] .
As a result of restoration work, which cost more than three million euros [4] and ended in the spring of 2005 , the main building of the manor returned to its former splendor and turned into a place for the provision of luxury hotel services, celebrations, conferences and seminars. On the site of the ruins of the former manor carriage , an outbuilding was built - a hotel with a bath complex. [3] [5] The former oil mill, which at first became the apartment building for the Lemberg family, also left the manor’s guests for use after 2013, as The owner of a new manor has been living in Finland for most of the year and is developing his third business project there [4] . The latest innovation was the construction of a secret meeting house with super-quiet ventilation and a high level of security in a log building located next to the manor, where it is impossible to listen to meetings held there. According to Lemberg, this house has ten times X-rayed walls, and the Estonian Security Police inspected it several times during construction [4] .
Main Building
The main building (manor house) of the manor in the style of late classicism was built in the 1820-1830s, when the owner of the manor was Gustav von Knorring [3] .
The front facade of the main building is decorated with three triangular pediments and a notched cornice . The central risalit has eight pilasters with majestic Corinthian capitals . The main entrances are located on both wings of the building. On the back facade is a wide portico - a dolomite porch , built in 1870 , with stone stairs descending into the park . [3]
The main floor of the building is the second floor; the first is a low floor with rooms for servants and kitchens . The premises of the main floor have a stylish classic design, which is dominated by combinations of black and red, lotus flowers, in the meander ornament alternates with palmette . The lobby with Pompeii -style drawings extends across both floors. The salon with a semicircular main plan, located next to the hall, is currently being rebuilt. The basement has many arches . The floor is made of limestone . [6]
Manor complex
The manor complex is located on both banks of the Vihterpalu River. In the second half of the 19th century in the center of the park was built the "House of Cavaliers", from which so far only ruins have remained. The main part of the park has a free layout, but regular elements of earlier breakdown are also preserved here. The park has many old spruce trees and there are several alpine cedar pines . Behind the main building grows a large western thuja .
Several auxiliary manor houses built in the 19th century have survived, but most of them have been destroyed.
In addition to the manor house [6] , the following objects of the manor complex are included in the State Register of Cultural Monuments of Estonia:
