Biography

While studying at Berkeley, Dan Platzman played in three jazz orchestras and participated in the prestigious Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Jazz Festival. Daniel Platzman joined Imagine Dragons later than everyone else, although he knew Wayne Sermon and Ben Mackey before they moved to Las Vegas and dedicated themselves to the group. When in 2011, Imagine Dragons drummer Andrew Tolman left the band, Wayne Sermon called Dan to this place. With him, they recorded their first album, which received a Grammy Award and many other awards.

In 2011, Wayne Sermon invited Platzman to play in a group. McKee, sacrificing his last year of study at Berkeley, joins the group. At this time, the group is gaining popularity and receiving a number of local awards such as "Best CD of 2011" (Vegas SEVEN), "Best Local Indie Group 2010" (Las Vegas Weekly) [2] , "Newest Must See Live Act" ( Las Vegas CityLife) [3] . In 2012, the debut album Night Visions led the group to success. He reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and won the Billboard Music Award for Best Rock Album (2014). The song “It's Time” became the band's first single to reach number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and certified by RIAA as platinum. The second song, Radioactive , reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was as RIAA certified as diamond, becoming the best-selling rock song in Nielsen SoundScan history. The third single, Demons , reached number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified by the RIAA as platinum. The group’s album debuted for a new rock band in six years (since 2006), and the song Radioactive set a new record on the Billboard Hot Rock Songs chart for 23 consecutive weeks. [5] Tracks from the album went into chats like Billboard Rock Songs , Billboard Alternative Songs and Billboard Pop Songs. Radioactive was also nominated for two Grammy awards, but eventually won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Music. [6]

In 2015, the second album "Smoke + Mirrors" reached number 1 on the Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart . [7] [8] It features singles “I Bet My Life”, “Shots” and “Gold” [9] [10] .

The group released songs for several films, including the song “Ready Aim Fire” for Iron Man 3 , the song “Who We Are” for The Hunger Games , “Battle Cry” for the Transformers movie, and “Not Today” for See You . In addition, in September 2014, the song “ Warriors ” was released along with Riot Games along with an animated music video dedicated to the League of Legends World Cup .

Platzman appeared on the cover of Drum Magazine ! in March 2015. Two months later, he reappeared in Drum Magazine ! .

Films and TV

Dan Platzman composed the original score in 2014 for Africa Investigates for the Al Jazeera English documentary series, produced by Insight TWI. [11] Africa Investigates is the first documentary in the world to be released exclusively by African investigative journalists. [12]

Platzman also composed the music for the film Best F (r) iends.
