Biography and career

Born in the village of Andriyanovka Alekseevsky village council of the Pokrovsky district of the Oryol region [1] . He participated in the Great Patriotic War . According to the story of his son, by the beginning of the war he lived with his parents in Lysychansk . When the city was captured by German troops, it was driven into Germany and worked in a labor camp in the Ruhr , from where it was liberated by American troops [1] .

After the war, from 1945 to 1949 he served as a shooter in the commandant's office of the Soviet Army .

Since 1949, he began his career as an artist. At first he worked as an artist at the Ministry of Coal Industry (until 1950), from 1950 to 1958 he was an artist at a factory (later NPO Hyperon), where he met his future wife, a drawing designer from the design bureau Nadezhda Ulyankina [1] .

In 1956 he entered the Moscow evening high school, which he graduated in 1958. At the same time, he studied at the courses of animator artists at the Soyuzmultfilm movie studio and at the University of Marxism-Leninism of the CPSU MGK .

From 1957 to 1982 he worked as a cartoon artist in Soyuzmultfilm, taking part in the creation of about a hundred hand - drawn animated films .

In the late 1970s, he was admitted to the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR [1] .

Create Postcards

Vladimir Zarubin illustrated books, drawings on envelopes , calendars , etc. He gained the greatest fame as an artist of greeting cards (mainly on cartoon themes). His first postcard was issued in 1962, and the total circulation of postcards along with envelopes and telegrams was copies [2] . His work has become popular and appreciated by collectors .

Zarubin's artistic New Year's cards were copied on store windows and wall newspapers. The characters depicted on the cards - Santa Claus , children, bunnies, squirrels, cubs, hedgehogs, snowmen - are distinguished by charm and kindness [3] .
