African canary finches [1] ( lat. Crithagra ) is a genus of songbirds from the finch family. Distributed in Africa and the Arabian Peninsula .

Crithagra Swainson , 1827

Species of this genus were previously included in the genus Serinus . However, then, according to the results of DNA studies , some species were transferred to the genus Crithagra [2] . Eight species were left in the genus Serinus .
