History
August 30, 2015 was the anniversary edition of the 90th edition of the race Shal Sels ( niderl. Schaal Sels ). In this regard, his route was special - it included 30 kilometers of paved areas and 19 kilometers of dirt roads . All this has caused increased attention of the international media to the race. As a result of this, in 2018 it was decided to split Schaal Sels into Schaal Sels Merksem which will retain its local character and Antwerp Port Epic which will focus more on international growth. The Antwerp Port Epic Route includes paved and unpaved sections. Start and finish were moved from Merksem to Antwerp . The chosen race name, on the one hand, underlines the place where the route begins and ends - the port of Antwerp , on the other hand, its past and present are Epic. The first race took place on September 2, 2018. [2]
