World War II
From the first days of the war, Boris tried to go to the front, but he was not taken: the position held by Okinin was subject to reservation.
In August 1941, Okinin volunteered for a partisan detachment, in the first months of the war he was behind enemy lines in the vicinity of the village of Vyritsa, Leningrad Region.
On December 15, 1941, when the detachment, returning to the base, came across punishers, Okinin, covering up the partisans' withdrawal while firing from a light machine gun, died. His body was disfigured. Okinin was buried at the place of death, in a clearing in the forest. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor .
