Biography
General education in the Smolensk Theological Seminary . In 1873 he entered the service.
In 1877, after graduating from the Kazan Military School, he was promoted to ensigns and assigned to the Volynsk 53rd Infantry Regiment , along with the regiment participated in the Russian-Turkish war . "For Bravery" in this company in 1878 was awarded the Order of St. Anna of the 4th degree and St. Stanislav of the 3rd degree with swords and bow.
In 1879, he was promoted to second lieutenant , in 1881 to lieutenant , in 1884 to head captain , in 1886 to captain. In 1892 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel , in 1899 to colonel .
Since 1900, the commander of the 253rd Grozny reserve battalion. Since 1903, the commander of the 151st Pyatigorsk Infantry Regiment . Since 1906, the commander of the 66th Butyrsky Infantry Regiment .
In 1908, he was promoted to major general with the appointment of the commander of the 1st brigade of the 45th infantry division . Since 1909, the commander of the 2nd Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division . Since 1914, a participant in the First World War , commanded the 54th Infantry Division and the 2nd Brigade of the 29th Infantry Division . April 28, 1915 "for courage" was awarded the St. George weapons .
Since 1915, he was in captivity. Since 1916, it has been in reserve at the headquarters of the Minsk Military District . From 1917 he was promoted to lieutenant general , he was the head of the 16th infantry reserve brigade and the inspector of the reserve troops of the Western Front .
