Sports career

He took part in the Olympic Games in Seoul (1988), where he won a silver medal.
In the flyweight tournament, 44 people participated in the tournament. One representative from each country was allowed.
In the Olympic finals, Andreas Tevs boxed against South Korean boxing host Kim Gwan Son , whom he lost a year earlier in the Belgrade World Cup finals. The fight became a classic confrontation between two different styles, the East German boxer acted at a long distance, and his opponent tried to break through the enemy’s defense and deliver force attacks from medium range and in close combat. Despite the fact that a computer calculation subsequently showed that Teus had 87 exact hits against his opponent over the course of the fight, 4 out of 5 judges (the American judge was the only exception) gave the victory to the boxer from South Korea.
