Biography
Beatrice was born in 1160 in Vienna and was the second child of Gerod I Macon and Moretta de Salins. She belonged to the Macon home and had seven brothers and sisters.
After the death of his third wife in 1175, the Count of Savoy Humbert III was inconsolable and refused to remarry; however, he had no male heir. His advisers convinced him to marry Beatrice the following year. [1] She bore two children:
- Thomas I (1178 - March 1, 1233), Count of Savoy, Aosta and Maurienne since 1189; [2]
- daughter (died at the age of 7)
Beatrice died in 1230 in Champagne, Aquitaine, France.
