Ashraf Samarkandi ( Persian أشرف سمرقندی ) is a medieval poet who wrote in Persian . Born in Samarkand , in the State of Khorezmshahs , received his education there. After that he went to the center (now the territory of Iraq ) of the State of the Seljukids . After some time, he moved to Isfahan , which was then the capital of this state, was a court poet. Shortly before his death, he returned to his native Samarkand and died there in 1192 . He wrote a large number of poems and sofas . The poet’s largest sofa is the Samarkand sofa, which consists of two thousand bates .
