Then, a little bolder and enlisting the massive popular support of the Latin American community, Elvira began to leave the church. On August 20, 2007 , however, Elvira was arrested during a propaganda campaign in Los Angeles , where Elvira left for her campaign, after which she was deported to Mexico . In the Spanish-language media, Elvira earned the nickname " Latin American Rosa Parks ." March 23, 2014 she was allowed to return to the United States with a humanitarian visa [1] .

Biography
Elvira was born in the town of San Miguel Curajuango, in the state of Michoacan , Mexico.
Elvira illegally arrived in the United States in 1997 and was soon deported from Washington . After returning to the country illegally (probably with the help of the so-called coyote guides), after several days in Mexico, she lived for three years in Oregon , where she gave birth to a son in 1999 (as a result of rape [2] ). In 2000, Elvira moved to Chicago , where, using false documents, she got a job as an airplane cleaner at an international airport. In 2002, after the events of September 11 , she was exposed during document checks and spent three years on probation until immigration authorities ordered her to appear to ascertain her status on August 15, 2006. On this day, instead of appearing in court, where she was awaiting imminent deportation , Elvira took refuge in the Methodist Church of Chicago.
Activities
Since then, until her second deportation in August 2007, Elvira dealt with the problems of illegal immigrants and headed the organization United Latin American Family ( Spanish: La Familia Latina Unida ), which advocates for the right of illegal parents to stay with their legal minor children in the United States. Elvira spoke in Spanish on television channels Univison , Telemundo , Televisa .
Contradictions
Elvira also had many opponents, mostly white Americans , blaming her for the fact that she was simply hiding behind her own son to protect herself from deportation. Elvira replies that all this is acts of racism on the part of the white population, which, in her opinion, controls the power in the country. At the same time, many African-Americans are negative towards Elvira, as they are jealous of the image of the rebellious African-American Rosa Parks and cannot allow the idea that now Mexicans , not African-Americans, are the largest minority in the country. Currently deported Elvira is with friends in the border Mexican city of Tijuana . The US government said that nothing prevents her son Saul from coming to Mexico to her or even staying there permanently if she is so eager to save her family.
