Biography
Nikolai Ivshin was born on December 18, 1921 in the territory of the present Altai Republic in the Russian Federation . In 1945, he successfully graduated from Tomsk State University , and four years later graduated from this university [1] .
In 1950-1952 N.K. Ivshin was a research associate and head of the laboratory of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan (now the K. I. Satpayev Institute of Geological Sciences ) [1] .
Since 1952, Nikolai Karpovich Ivshin worked at the Kazakh State University (now Al-Farabi Kazakh National University ) [1] .
In 1982, he, along with a group of fellow geologists ( Bandaletov S. M. , Bespalov V. F. , Ergaliev G. X. , Nikitin I. F. and Borukaev R. A. - scientific adviser), was awarded the State Prize Kazakh SSR for the work " Stratigraphy and Paleontology of the Lower Paleozoic of Kazakhstan " [2] .
The main scientific works of Ivshin are devoted to the study of the stratigraphy and fauna of the trilobites of Kazakhstan. For the first time identified and theoretically substantiated 16 biostratigraphic horizons of deposits of the Cambrian period in Central Kazakhstan. He established about 50 new genera and 120 new species of trilobites for science [1] .
Nikolai Karpovich Ivshin died in 1993 in the city of Alma-Ata [1] .
Among the many works of the scientist, the following works are best known: " Middle Cambrian trilobites of Kazakhstan ." Alma-Ata, 1957; " Biostratigraphy and trilobites of the lower Cambrian of Central Kazakhstan ." Alma-Ata, 1978 [1] .
