The locality under the same consonant name is known from the materials “Sotnoi on Turchasovsky camp of Kargopol district in 1566”, but it refers to a village located on the opposite, right bank.

In the same 1566 on the place of the present Karamino, there were two villages Lukinskaya and Kondratovskaya, belonging to the parish of Zaostrovskaya on the Great Side. According to the household inventory of 1866, Lukinskaya consisted of 15 residential buildings, Kondratovskaya - from 10 residential buildings.

At the beginning of the 20th century, both villages merged into one, and since about 1905, the village officially became known as Lukinskaya, also having the local name of Karalina. Around the 30s-40s of the 20th century, the name Karamino was finally established.
