In 1257, an engagement was concluded between Margarita and Henry IV, the Duke of Brabant , the son of Henry III, the Duke of Brabant and Adelaide of Burgundy . The engagement was broken due to the fact that Henry was mentally ill. In 1267, he was deposed, and Margarita became engaged to his brother, Jean.

On September 5, 1270, Margarita married Jean I, Duke of Brabant . In July 1271, Margarita gave birth to a son, but died shortly after birth. The child also did not survive. Two years later, Jean remarried.
