Life
Margarita of Flanders was the daughter of Guy de Dampier and his wife Matilda de Bethune. In 1273, she married Jean, Duke of Brabant (1253 - May 3, 1294), whose first wife Margaret of France died in childbirth. Their children were:
- Gottfried (Geoffrey) (c. 1273/1274 - after September 13, 1283)
- Jean II Quiet (September 27, 1275 - October 27, 1312), Duke of Brabant and Limburg from 1294
- Margarita (October 4, 1276 - December 14, 1311); husband: from June 9, 1292 Henry VII of Luxembourg (July 2, 1274 - August 24, 1313), Count of Luxembourg from 1288, king of Germany from 1309, emperor of the Holy Roman Empire from 1312
- Maria (c. 1277/1285 - after November 2, 1338); husband: from approx. 1297/1304 Amadeus the Great (c. 1253 - October 16, 1323), Count of Savoy
Margarita died in 1285 at the age of about 24 years.
