Biography

After graduating from the Moscow Land Surveying Institute F.F. Pavlov was sent to work in the Ural Geodetic Department. Here he became one of the leaders and organizers of geodetic studies and mapping of the Urals. For the first time in the Urals, he laid a series of 2nd-class triangulations from Chusova to Tagil , which became the geodetic basis for the largest mining and industrial region of the Urals.

Simultaneously with work in the Ural Geodetic Department F.F. Pavlov lectured to students-miners, and in 1921 he became head of the Department of Geodesy of the Ural Polytechnic Institute . In the 20s of the XX century F.F. Pavlov, with the active participation of students, conducted large-scale tomographic surveys of the sites for the construction of the Uralmashzavod , Tagil Carriage Building and Metallurgical Plants, the Ural Electric Machine Building Plant and the reconstruction of a number of factories and cities in the Urals.

Many years F.F. Pavlov was the dean of the faculty of mining, vice-rector of the Ural Polytechnic, and then the Sverdlovsk Mining Institute. In 1936–37 - Director of the Sverdlovsk Mining Institute. In 1939–43 - Dean of the Geological Prospecting Department of the Siberian State Institute.

In 1944, he was transferred to work at the Moscow Mining Institute, which returned from evacuation (today - the Mining Institute of NUST β€œMISiS” ). In 1944-1963 F.F. Pavlov works at the Moscow Mining Institute, here in 1947 he brilliantly defended his doctoral dissertation, he was awarded the academic title of professor. For many years he headed the department of geodesy, was the dean of the mining faculty of the Moscow State Institute. Together with students prof. F.F. Pavlov did a great job of restoring the war-damaged geodetic support network in the Kadievsky district of Donbass. Conducted work to thicken the reference geodetic network in the mines of Dzhezkazgan and in other industrial areas of the country.

Professor F.F. Pavlov is the author of many works on geodesy. He published a number of monographs, textbooks, teaching aids and methodological developments in the disciplines of the geodetic cycle. F.F. Pavlov invented a depth gauge for transmitting elevations from the surface to mine workings, a differential barometer for determining the height of fixed points on the earth's surface and in mine workings.

In connection with the transformation of MHI into MIRGEM and the elimination of the training of engineers in the mine surveying specialty F.F. Pavlov in 1963 transferred to work at the Peoples' Friendship University , where he headed the department of geodesy and surveying until the end of his days.

He was buried at Vvedensky cemetery .
