Career
His younger brother Gino is also a ski racer.
The Swiss has participated in FIS and national (youth) championships since winter 2003/2004. He won several medals at the Swiss Junior Championships and a bronze medal in the supergiant at the 2005 European Youth Olympic Festival in Montei.
Since March 2008, Caviesel has also occasionally participated in individual stages of the World Cup. In March 2011, he became the country's champion in the supergiant.
At the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, he was 28th in giant slalom and came down from the slalom distance in combination.
At the 2017 World Championships in St. Moritz, he unexpectedly won a bronze medal in combination. His first podium at the World Cup was held on March 16, 2017 in the super giant in Aspen (3rd place).
At the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Korea, he was 12th in combination and 13th in the downhill [1] .
In the season 2018/2019, at the second stage in Lake Louise, in the supergiant, he showed the third time and for the first time in the World Cup 2018/19 was on the podium [2] . A week later, in Colorado, in Beaver Creek, Mauro managed to climb twice to the award (second) runway stage in the downhill and supergiant [3] .
