Biography
It is believed that Theodora was born around 1180/5, however, the names of her parents are unknown. One of her grandmothers was the daughter of the Byzantine emperor. [2] Thus, Theodora may have been the daughter of John Duca [3] or the daughter of one of the other daughters of Andronicus [1] .
In 1203, Theodora Angelina married Leopold VI, Duke of Austria (1176-1230) [4] . Their children were:
- Leopold (1208-1216)
- Henry (1208–1228), married (1225) to Agnes, daughter of Herman I , Landgrave of Thuringia
- Frederick II (1210–1246), Duke of Austria and Styria (from 1230)
- Margarita (d. 1267), married (1225) to Henry VII , king of Germany , second marriage (1252) to Przemysl Ottokar II , king of the Czech Republic
- Agnes (1206–1226), married (1222) to Albrecht I , Duke of Saxony
- Constance (1212-1243), married (1234) to Henry III Wettin , Margrave of Meissen
- Gertrude (d. 1241), married (1238) to Heinrich Raspe , Landgrave of Thuringia
