Historical background
The Constitution of the Republic of Mari El was adopted by the Constitutional Assembly of the Republic of Mari El on June 24, 1995 . A total of 59 changes were made. The latter concerned the procedure for the election of the head of the Republic. The Constitution is fully consistent with federal law and freely distributed among the population of the Republic of Mari El.
