The Historical Museum in Botevgrad ( Bulgaria ) opened the doors of the first exhibition in 1937. Having changed several rooms, today the museum is located in the center of Botevgrad , on Saransk Square, in the reconstructed building of the former court of justice [1] .

History
Museum business in the Botevgrad community has rich traditions.
The need to create a museum collection in Botevgrad ( Orhaniye in those years) was first described in the Orkhaniski Noviny newspaper, No. 1, January 10, 1927 - then the creation of an archaeological museum at the reading room was noted among the upcoming tasks of the city’s cultural elite. The first museum collection was opened in 1937 thanks to the efforts of the director of the gymnasium, Asen Stefanov.
In 1950, the exposition was supplemented with new exhibits and moved to the Hristo Botev 1884 reading room . Two years later, the collection received the status of a state museum; in this regard, the building of the former Bristol Hotel was allocated.
On May 24, 1959, a general folk museum was opened. In 1970, the second exhibition of the museum was opened. In connection with the restructuring of the city, the building was demolished in 1977, and the museum switched to the “storage of funds” mode, without an exhibition, located on Bulgaria Boulevard, Building 8.
In 1985, the first exhibition of the museum’s art fund opened, which marked the beginning of the museum’s art gallery. By decision of the Community Council, in 1988 the museum was given a building in the city center, opposite the clock tower , in order to organize a new museum exposition and art gallery. In this form, the museum exposition, along with an art gallery, has existed since 2010.
On July 1, 2010, the reconstruction of the former court of justice in Botevgrad began, the building of architect Pencho Koychev, built in the thirties of the XX century. The building was built on (on one floor) and opened as a museum on May 3, 2011. the building was open.
Activities
The historical museum in Botevgrad is characterized by developed exhibition activities. Hall "Orhaniyets" is equipped with the necessary equipment for presentations [2] . There are opportunities for exhibiting guest art, applied and documentary exhibitions, conducting conversations, open lessons [3] [2] , lectures [4] , celebrations [5] . Within the framework of the initiative "Salon of Arts", achievements in the field of literature (Literary Club "Stamen Pancev"), art and applied art are presented. As a cultural and scientific institution, the museum develops research, collection, educational and popularizing activities. Museum events are included in the cultural calendar of the Botevgrad Community .

The museum funds store more than 15,000 original stock units, including things, documents, photographs, ancient editions, samples of weapons and equipment, coins, artworks, distributed in three departments and one branch:

- Department of Exposition
- Administrative department
- Branch - Keleyny school in the village of Bozhenitsa
