Gamma-melanocyte-stimulating hormone stimulates the growth of skin melanocytes and enhances the production of black pigment melanocytes - melanin . Due to this effect, gamma melanocyte-stimulating hormone enhances skin pigmentation and increases skin resistance to ultraviolet radiation .
