Jakhon Abdusaidovich Kurbanov (born February 12, 1986 , Khujand ) is a Tajik boxer , a representative of several weight categories from medium to heavy. He has been playing for the Tajikistan boxing team since 2005, the champion of the Asian Games, the champion of Asia, the winner and prize-winner of tournaments of international importance, and a participant in two summer Olympic Games.

Biography
Jakhon Kurbanov was born on February 12, 1986 in the city of Khujand, Sogd region of the Tajik SSR .
Amateur career
The first serious success at the adult international level was achieved in the 2005 season, when he entered the main squad of the Tajik national team and attended the Asian Championship in Ho Chi Minh City , from where he brought the golden dignity prize won in the middleweight category. He also played at the World Championships in Mianyang , but could not get into the number of winners here, having already lost to the Russian Matvey Korobov at the preliminary stage.
In 2006, light heavyweight won the Asian Games in Doha , became the bronze medalist of the first world championship among students in Alma-Ata , losing in the semifinals to Kazakh Erdos Janabergenov .
At the world championship in 2007 in Chicago, he stopped already in the 1/16 finals, was defeated by the representative of Kazakhstan Erkebulan Shynaliev .
Thanks to a series of successful appearances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing - the first two rivals in the tournament bracket successfully passed in the 81 kg category, while he was disqualified in the third quarterfinal fight with Shynaliev [1] . Also this season he added to the track record a bronze award received at the World Cup in Moscow .
In 2009, he climbed to the first heavyweight and performed at the World Championships in Milan , where, however, he was stopped already in the 1/16 finals.
At the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, he won a bronze medal.
In 2011, he became a bronze medalist in the standings of the Tajik national championship, boxed at the world championship in Baku , losing to the Russian Artur Beterbiev in the 1/8 finals.
Being among the leaders of the boxing team of Tajikistan, Kurbanov passed the selection for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London - he again performed in the 81 kg category , but this time he was defeated in the opening match from a little-known Tunisian boxer.
After the London Olympics, Jakhon Kurbanov remained in the main team of the Tajik national team and continued to take part in major international competitions. So, in 2013, he became the silver medalist of the Tajikistan Championship in the heavyweight category, marked a victory at the home Memorial of Ismail Khamzaliev, spoke at the World Championships in Almaty .
In 2014, in the first heavyweight, he reached the quarter-finals at the Asian Games in Incheon .
In 2015, he won the Tajikistan Championship in the category of 91 kg, received bronze at the Asian Championship in Bangkok , losing to the representative of Kazakhstan Vasily Levit in the semifinal, took part in the World Championship in Doha .
At the 2016 Tajikistan Championship, he was again the best in the first heavyweight. He tried to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , but failed at two qualifying tournaments.
In 2017, he won bronze medals at the Asian Championships in Tashkent and at the Victor Liventsev Memorial in Minsk, where he was stopped by the representative of Belarus Sergey Korneev . He went to the World Championship in Hamburg , where he was defeated by another Belarusian Vladislav Smyaglikov.
At the 2018 Tajikistan Championship, he once again defeated all opponents in the first heavy weight category and thereby won the golden dignity award [2] .
Professional career
In April 2006, Kurbanov tried himself on a professional level, but lost on points to Ukrainian boxer Viktor Zinoviev (8-1).
