Biography
Vadim Viktorovich Ershov graduated from the geological faculty of Moscow State University with a degree in geology and geochemistry in 1961, and by 1966 he was engaged in geochemistry and mineralogy at TsNIGRI with M. N. Godlevsky .
In 1966 he entered graduate school at the Department of Geology, Geodesy and Mine Surveying of the Moscow Mining Institute (today - Mining Institute NUST "MISiS" ), where he prepares and defends his dissertation in 1968 on the establishment of patterns of distribution of chemical elements in Talnakhsky sulfide ores ore deposits and their geometrization to ensure mining planning at mining enterprises. In 1974, V.V. Ershov headed the Department of Geology of the Moscow State Institute. In 1982, V.V. Ershov defended his doctoral dissertation on the problem of geological and mine surveying quality control of ores in underground mining of non-ferrous metal deposits.
Tragically died in the prime of his creative powers on October 3, 1989.
Scientific and industrial activities
Fascinated by the problem of fundamentally improving the geological study of the subsoil, V.V. Ershov makes up the methodological basis of a new geological discipline - mining geology, the content of which is the geological basis for managing the state of the rock mass, reserves and quality of mineral raw materials at all stages of field development. Scientific and methodological development of the main sections of this new scientific field of applied geology and mining should be considered the main scientific achievement of V.V. Ershov. He has published over 100 scientific papers.
The fruitful scientific work of V.V. Ershov was successfully combined with successful pedagogical activity; as a teacher, V.V. Ershov went from an assistant to a professor at the Department of Geology of the Moscow State Institute of Economics, which he headed from in 1974 and which he directed until his tragic death. A talented teacher, lecturer and popularizer of science, he has prepared a significant amount of educational and educational literature. Among the best should be attributed published in 1984-1989. textbooks for students of mining specialties of universities: "Fundamentals of geology", "Geology and exploration of mineral deposits", "Fundamentals of mining geology." The textbook "Fundamentals of Geology" was translated into English and published in 1988 by the publishing house "Mir".
V.V. Ershov was the main creator of the revived Geological Museum at the Moscow Mining Institute.
Memory
The name of V.V. Ershov is the Geological Museum of the National Research Technological University "MISiS" [1] .
In 1991, the country's largest mineralogist A. P. Khomyakov in the Khibiny Mountains discovered a previously unknown mineral, and in memory of his untimely departed colleague gave him the name "ruff" [2] .
