“Noar ha-gwaot” ( Hebrew נוער הגבעות - “Youth of the Hills”, “Youth of the Heights” [1] ) - the name of the right-extremist groups of religious and national youth in Israel, who establish unauthorized settlements in the West Bank [2] .
The “Youth of the Hills” is often opposed by the Israeli establishment and the Council of Settlements [3] , sometimes involved in the tag mehir attacks [4] .
Usually, representatives of Noar ha-guaot live outposts; often in communes or communities under the leadership of authorities like Ivry Rahn, Meir Bratler, or Itai Zar. Usually they wear long paisas and a beard and large bales. Many work as shepherds or cultivate the land.
The Noar HaGwaot communities are heterogeneous and sometimes differ greatly from one another.
In 2011, the ministers, the police, Tzahal and Shabak recommended that the head of government declare Noar ha-guaot a terrorist organization [5] .
