Kletskaya, Valentin Andreevich

Valentin Andreevich Kletsky ( Ukrainian: Valentin Andriyovich Kletsky ; born January 11, 1985 , Kiev ) is a Ukrainian rower who played for the Ukrainian rowing team in the period 2005-2015. Silver and double bronze medalist of the European Championships, participant in the Summer Olympic Games in London .

Biography

Valentin Kletskaya was born on January 11, 1985 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR . He studied at the Kiev comprehensive school No. 290, then graduated from the University of Economics and Law “CROC”. He started rowing in 1998 at the age of thirteen, was trained under the guidance of Honored Coach of Ukraine Viktor Vasilyevich Potabenko .

He made his international debut in the 2005 season, playing at the World Junior Championships in Athens.

In 2006, he entered the main team of the Ukrainian national team and first started at the World Cup stage.

In 2007, he participated in the youth world championship in Glasgow, where he competed in the standings of four doubles.

At the 2009 European Championships in Brest, he won a silver medal in swing eights with a steering, losing only to the Polish crew at the finish line. At the same time, at the World Championships in Poznan, he could not get into the number of winners, having ended up in the consolation finale “B”.

In 2010, in the eights he became the bronze medalist of the European championship in Montemor-o-Velho , skipping ahead of the national teams of Germany and Poland, while at the world championship in Karapiro in the same discipline he finished fourth in the final of “B”.

At the European Championships in Plovdiv, he again received bronze in the eights, losing only to the Poles and Czechs in the finals, while at the World Championships in Bled he was again in the final “B”.

Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London - in the men's eights program he finished last in all three races and was placed on the last eighth line in the final protocol of the competition [1] .

After the London Olympics, Kletskaya remained in the Ukrainian national team and continued to take part in major international competitions. So, in 2013, he was noted for his performance at the European Championship in Seville .

In 2014, he participated in the European Championships in Belgrade and in the World Championships in Amsterdam , where he performed in steering eights and steeringless fours, respectively.

The last time showed any significant results at the international level in the season of 2015, when he visited the European championship in Poznan and the world championship in Eglebett-le-Lac . Soon after the end of these competitions, he decided to end his sports career.
