Early life and career

Song Min Ho was born in Yongin , Gyeonggi Province . He has a younger sister named Dana. His sister used to be a rapper in the NEWFO band, but the band split up. He graduated from Hanlim Multi Art School in 2011.

He was also a member of a rap scene called Mino or Hugeboy Mino , collaborating with other rappers who became idols, namely Block B's Zico, Kyung, PO, Phantom's Hanhae, SPEED's Taewoon and MIB's SIMS.

2011-13: acting debut

Mino made his debut in 2011 as a rapper in the BoM group, under the wing of Y2Y. He was known and active under the pseudonym Daegun. However, two years later, the group split up. ^[1] As part of the group, Mino made his first acting debut in March 2012 in The Strongest K-POP Survival, a broadcast on Channel A, where he attracted attention with unusual rap and good dance data.

2013-14: Winner Debut and Solo Performances

In 2013, Mino was accepted into YG Entertainment through a casting. In the same year, he was a member of the team A team intern in the WIN: Who Is Next survival program from Mnet. Initially, he was a leader, but due to injury received while participating in the show, he was replaced by Kang Seung Yun. On October 25, 2013, in the final episode of the show, it was announced that the team had won the competition and would debut as a Winner group. ^[2] Winner released their 2014 C / S debut album on August 12, and held their first performance on Inkigayo on August 17, 2014.

In October 2014, Mino participated in the Epik High “Born Hater” with Beenzino, Verbal Jint, BI, and Bobby. ^[3] In December 2014, he collaborated with Nikkhun of 2PM , Yonghhwa of CNBLUE , L of Infinite and Baro of B1A4 at a 2014 SBS performance by Gayo Daejeon . ^[four]

2015: Show Me The Money

In April 2015, Mino appeared on the mnet channel in the rap battle program for survival, Show Me The Money 4, where he received a lot of hype due to unprofessionalism in the installation of the program, where they skipped censorship in the rap text with indecent presentation of words. ^[5] He performed under the guidance of Zico and the Paloalto team, and ended up in second place. ^[6] As part of the program, he released several solo and collaborative singles: “Fear”, “Turtle Ship”, “Moneyflow”, “Okey Dokey”, and “Victim + Poppin 'Bottles”. The single “Fear” was created in collaboration with a comrade from his label - Taeyang . The song took first place in 8 different charts immediately after the release and became one of the best-selling singles of the year, sincere lyrics of the song could clear his name after the scandal with an unsuccessful installation of the program. ^[7]

2016—2017: MOBB & The New Journey to the West

In September 2016, Mino released his hip-hop single “Body” based on a new album with a friend from his label, Bobby, with whom they formed the MOBB subgroup. ^{[8] [9]} Together on September 9 they released four tracks: one album The Mobb , with two tracks Full House and Hit Me. ^[10]

In January 2017, Mino joined as a regular member on the New Journey to the West TVN show. ^[11] Mino received funny names during the show. Song Mojiri and Song Garak. ^[12]

2018: Burning Planet exhibition and solo debut with XX full-length album, single WINNER - MILLIONS

In early October, he opened the exhibition and named it the Burning Planet in collaboration with Gentle Monster. In particular, big stars like actor Lee Dong Hye, Block B's PO, Li Yi Feng and many others visited the exhibition. The exhibition was held for about a month. ^[13] In addition, Hypebeast criticized the exhibit for its deep and symbolic forms, such as “burning” in life, affecting aspects when a society works literally driving itself to death. ^[fourteen]

On November 26, Mino made his debut as a solo artist with the full-length album XX, with the title track “Fiancé”, on which the video was shot. The album contains 12 songs of different styles, which became no less popular than the title track, and hung on the charts for several weeks. Two songs in the album, "시발점" ("Trigger") and "이 이지" ("hope"), were rated 18+ for the public. The music video "Fiancé" gained 10 million views in four days after its release. ^[15] Mino described the title track as a merger of the trot (the sample was borrowed from the Korean trot song "소양강 처녀" ("soyanggang Maiden") since 1969) and hip-hop, which gives a unique sound for this composition and makes it special for world k-pop. After the release, the song won first place in six different charts, including Melon, Genie and Mnet. The first performance was in the MBC music show! Music Core on December 1, later Mino won his first solo victory at a music show on Mnet M on December 6th. ^[16]

On January 19, Winner's single "MILLIONS" was released. The song came to first place on several charts at once and became popular during the Christmas period. ^[17]

2019: EVERYWHERE TOUR IN NORTH AMERICA, return of WINNER with WE mini-album

Starting January 15, Mino and his Winner band tour North America, where they visited several cities in the United States and Canada. In addition to the songs of the group, Mino performed with his tracks from the solo album of XX . ^[eighteen]

On May 15, Winner released the long-awaited mini-album with the title track "AH YEAH". ^[19]

According to the plans of the label YG Entertaiment, the return of Mino with a solo album will be repeated in the 2019th year.

In September 2018, it was reported that Son Mino had donated all of his fees for his appearance at Balenciaga x Dazed in collaboration with UN WFP (World Food Program), one of the largest humanistic organizations that aims at a world without hunger. ^[twenty]
