The source of the river is located in the rainforests northeast of the city of Maraba . From there, the river flows in a general direction to the north approximately parallel to the Tokatins River, in the Igarape Miri area it turns east, and eventually merges with the Akara River, after which they together flow through Guajara Bay near the town of Belen to the Bay of Marajo - the mouth of the Para River.
On the river is the city of Mogu .
