Biography

Grew up on a family farm in Mid-Wales. She graduated from Oxford University (Bachelor of Physics, 1982). Switching to biology, I studied there for a doctoral degree - in the laboratory of molecular biophysics under the supervision of professors Andrew Miller and . In 1985 she received the degree of D.Phil. on molecular biophysics with the work of 'Structural and dynamic studies of biological macromolecules'. She was a postdoc in the same laboratory (1986-1991) and at the University of Edinburgh (1985-1986).
