Imberlach (ingberlach, English ingberlach , Yiddish אימבערלעך ) - a sweet dish of Jewish cuisine , various products in a caramelized syrup shell. [1] For example, when preparing from matzo , pieces of matzo are boiled in the prepared syrup, the resulting mass is rolled into a thin sheet, allowed to cool, and cut into diamonds. A popular recipe is grated carrot ingberlach. The composition may also include sugar, honey, ginger; less commonly, olive or other vegetable oil.
The name comes from the word ginger ( ingber in Yiddish ). [2] Dried ground ginger was added to the matzo flour and the dough kneaded on the eggs was fried in sugar syrup with honey and ginger, then it was formed and dried. [3] There are sweets made by a similar technology, but in which ginger is not used, for example teiglach [4] or pletzlach ( pletzlach ) [5] .
