Biography
In 1973 he graduated from Kazakh State University. In 1979-1982 - a junior researcher at the Institute of Literature and Art. M. Auezova; in 1982-1989 - senior lecturer, associate professor of the Kazakh State University. In 1982-1994, he was the head of the Scientific Center of Manuscripts at the Institute of Literature and Art . Since 1995, the director of this institute. Since 1996, Vice-President of the Academy of Social Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan [1] .
The main direction of scientific work is the problems of folklore and Turkology. He is the author of the books “The Book of Korkut” (1986), “Kazakh Epic” (1987), “World of the Epic” (1993), “Poetics of the Oguz Heroic Epic” (1997). Prize winner C. Valikhanova (1990) [1] . Member of the International Committee on Folklore (Moscow), Chairman of the Dissertation Council for the defense of a doctoral dissertation at the Institute of Literature and Art, member of the Representative Council at the Kazakh-Turkish University named after A. Yassaui [2] .
