Naira Hovakimyan , ( born Naira Hovakimyan , born September 21, 1966) [1] is a management theorist , professor of mechanical sciences and engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign [2] She was the first director of the laboratory of intelligent robotics during 2015-2017 . Education

Naira Hovakimyan received a master's degree in theoretical mechanics and applied mathematics in 1988 at Yerevan State University in Armenia . She became a candidate of physical and mathematical sciences in 1992, in Moscow , at the Institute of Applied Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences , specializing in optimal control and differential games .

Scientific life

Before joining the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2008, Naira Hovakimyan worked at the University of Stuttgart in Germany , at the Inria Institute in France , at the Georgia Institute of Technology , and studied at the Department of Aerospace and Marine Engineering at the University of Technology of Virginia . She is currently a professor in the Department of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering at UIUC . In 2015, she became the first director of the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory [5] at UIUC . She is the co-author of two books, [6] [7] ten book chapters, six patents, over 350 journal articles and reports.

Scientific areas

Research interests: management and optimization, autonomous systems, machine learning, cybersecurity, neural networks, game theory, as well as their applications in the aerospace industry, robotics, mechanical, agricultural, electrical and biomedical engineering and in caring for the elderly.

Rewards

In 2011, Naira received the AIAA Mechanics and Control of Flight [8] award, received the SWE award for achievements in 2015 [9] , and in 2017 received the IEEE CSS award for technical excellence in aerospace control [10] , as well as in 2019 will be the recipient of the AIAA Pendray Aerospace Literature Award [11] . In 2014, she was awarded the Humboldt Prize for her achievements in life and was recognized as a senior fellow at Hans Fischer of the Technical University of Munich. She is a member of AIAA, IEEE, SIAM, AMS, SWE, ASME and ISDG. Naira is the co-founder and chief scientist of IntelinAir.
