The New Pushkin Prize is a literary prize in Russia, established in 2005 by the Alexander Zhukov Foundation, the A. Pushkin State Museum and the Mikhailovsky Museum-Reserve .

History
The literary prize, called the Pushkin Prize , existed in pre-revolutionary Russia. It was established in August 1881 by the Imperial St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences and was awarded until 1919, lasting 37 years. Later, the German Pushkin Prize of the Hamburg Alfred T枚pfer Foundation was created, which lasted from 1989 to 2003. As well as the State Pushkin Prize, established by decree of the President of the Russian Federation in 1994, but ceased to exist 10 years later, in 2004.
In 2005, at the initiative of the Alexander Zhukov Foundation, A.S. State Museum Pushkin Museum and Reserve "Mikhailovsky" was established New Pushkin Prize. The first presentation took place on May 25, 2005, on the birthday of Pushkin in the old style. In the future, the prize began to be awarded annually on the same day.
Nomination and presentation
The new Pushkin Prize is awarded in two categories - "For the total creative contribution to national culture" and "For the innovative development of domestic cultural traditions." Jury and competition are not provided. Candidates for the laureates are nominated by members of the Prize Council; the Prize Council selects and approves the laureates themselves.
