Sych, Yuri Petrovich

Born November 25, 1923 in Krivoy Rog.

In the early 1950s he graduated from the Sverdlovsk Institute of Technical Education with a degree in architecture.

All his life he worked in Kryvyi Rih - at the Krivbassproekt Institute a draftsman, the head of the VNIPIrudmash design team , was the chief architect of the city.

For his developments in technical aesthetics he was awarded various awards, including the silver medal of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements of the USSR. During his creative life he was actively engaged in architectural design, many buildings, structures, parks and squares were built and equipped in the city according to his designs.

He was a member of the Union of Architects of the USSR, then - the Union of Architects of Ukraine.

He worked in the field of easel painting, graphics, watercolors. His paintings are stored in the Kryvyi Rih Museum of Local History , foreign museums and private collections. In 1978, the painting "Morning on Ingulz" was awarded the first prize at the National Exhibition in Kiev.

He took part in the veteran organization of Krivoy Rog, in the council of the Krivoy Rog Museum of History and Local Lore. In Krivoy Rog he created the organization "Old City", to protect the monuments of history and culture of the city.

He died on October 13, 2006 in Krivoy Rog, where he was buried.

• A memorial plaque on the house number 11 on Pervomaiskaya Street in the Central City District of Krivoy Rog ^[3] ;
• It is planned to create a monument to famous Kryvyi Rih residents, including Yuri Sych ^[4] .
