History
Opened on October 18, 2003 as part of the Westfriedhof – Georg-Brauchle-Ring section [1] and until 2004 was the final stop. The station is named, like the street above it, in honor of the former second mayor of Munich, George Brauchle . [2]
Architecture and Design
The platform is columnless and has a height of 7.50 meters. On the walls of the station are images both from the environment and from around the world, for example, from Berlin or New York . The areas between the images are made up of colorful rectangles.
In 2005, artist Franz Ackerman received the “mfi Preis Kunst am Bau 2005” for decorating the station’s walls under the title “The Great Journey” . [3]
