Yao ( Fr. Yao ) is a city and suprefecture in Chad , located in the territory of the Batha region . The administrative center of the Department of Fitri .

Geographical position
The city is located in the central part of Chad, on the northeastern shore of Lake Fitri , at an altitude of 270 meters above sea level [1] , at a distance of approximately 274 kilometers northeast of the country's capital N'Djamena .
Population
According to the 2009 official census, the population of Yao was 91,507 (44,756 men and 46,751 women). The population of the prefecture by age range was as follows: 53.6% - residents under 15 years old, 40.4% - between 15 and 59 years old and 6% - aged 60 years and older [2] .
