Biography
R.A. Rodin was born in the village of Fineyevo, Kirzhatchesky District, Vladimir Region, before the war he entered the Moscow Mining Institute (today - the Mining Institute of NUST “MISiS” ). In 1941 he went to the front, but was sent to the Far East, where he served in naval aviation with the rank of junior lieutenant. He took part in the hostilities in the war with Japan.
After demobilization, he continued his studies at the institute. After graduating with honors from the Moscow State Institute in 1951 and defending his dissertation in 1955, R.A. Rodin was sent to the Magnitogorsk Mining and Metallurgical Institute , in which he headed the department "Mineral Processing".
After returning to Moscow, in 1958 he began working as a laboratory head in the institute’s subdivision of the Institute of Reinforced Concrete, engaged in non-metallic building materials and subsequently merged into the newly formed Institute of VNIPIIstromsyrye. According to the memoirs of the Director General of the Institute "VNIPIIstromsyrye" Yu.D. Buyanova, it is R.A. Rodin came up with the abbreviated name of the institute:
The abbreviated (company) name of the newly created organization was proposed by R. A. Rodin, who at that time headed the laboratory for crushing and screening of rocks at the VNIIzhelezobeton Institute. Roman Andrianovich Rodin began working in it in 1958, almost simultaneously with me ... [1]
From 1978 to 1990, he held the position of chief engineer of VNIPIIstromsyrye.
In the last period of his life since 1990, R.A. Rodin taught at the Moscow State Mining University at the department "Mineral Processing", he was awarded the academic title of professor.
Scientific and educational activities
R.A. Rodin created a new methodology for calculating the productivity of rotor and jaw crushers, justified the optimal relationship between the quarry and the crushing and screening plant, taking into account the lumpiness of the rock mass. These developments are successfully used by both designers and manufacturers; they were the basis for calculating the technological schemes of crushing and sorting plants.
Doctoral dissertation R.A. The homeland, which he defended in 1988, was devoted to the issues of crushing rocks to produce non-metallic building materials. Its theoretical part later grew into a theory explaining the mechanism of the destruction of brittle and elastically brittle rocks. It describes this process not only during crushing of rocks, but also during mechanical drilling of wells. R.A. Rodin considered the possibility of applying his theory to calculate the mechanism of rock destruction by an explosion. His theoretical contribution to the theory of rock destruction over time is becoming increasingly important.
Roman Andrianovich Rodin is the author of numerous inventions and articles.
