United Nations Security Council Resolution 1839 is a UN Security Council resolution unanimously adopted on October 9, 2008 [1] . The resolution addresses the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict, in particular the extension of the mandate of the United Nations Observer Mission in Georgia ( UNOMIG ).

Resolution
By unanimously adopting resolution 1839 (2008), the Council made no other decisions on its actions, however, it referred to the most recent report of the Secretary-General, which notes that after the Russian-Georgian conflict in South Ossetia, the area of responsibility of UNOMIG is unclear, as well as all its previous resolutions, including No. 1808 of April 15, 2008 . In the report, the Secretary-General recommends a legal extension of the Mission for a period of four months,
The resolution adopted an extension of the mandate for a four-month period, namely until February 15, 2009 . The resolution also decides to continue active work on this issue.
