Holiday History
On the night of August 30 to 31, 1935, miner Alexei Stakhanov set a record (produced 102 tons of coal at a rate of 7 tons), which was the beginning of the Stakhanov movement . The holiday is celebrated on the territory of the former Soviet Union .
Officially, the holiday was approved in the USSR on the proposal of the ministers of the coal industry DG Onik and A. F. Zasyadko on September 10, 1947 . The first celebration of Miner's Day was held on August 29, 1948 . At the beginning of the year, the minister issued an order “On the preparation for the holiday of the Miner’s Day”.
It was noted that all coal industry workers should celebrate the holiday with production achievements and improvement of living conditions, measures were identified to strengthen labor discipline, put new machines into operation, speed up construction and reconstruction of mines, set tasks for preparing materials for awarding especially distinguished in the work of the miners. On the miner's day in Moscow, a solemn meeting was held, at which an obligation was made to achieve success in work in 1949 .
