Crowborough ( Eng. Crowborough [ d 1] ) is a city and community in the English county of East Sussex . The city is located on the border of the Ashdown Forest, in the area of ββHigh Wilde, which is included in the list of " High Weald Area of ββOutstanding Natural Beauty " of Great Britain .

History
The word "crumbs" in Old English meant saffron or golden yellow, and "berg" - a hill.
In 1734, Sir Henry Fermor, a local philanthropist, bequeathed money to the church and charity school for the benefit of the βignorant and paganβ who lived in or in the Crowborough and [1] .
Crowborough is located 56 km from London, and the railway, laid in 1868, contributed to the significant growth of the city. At the end of the 19th century, Crowborough became a spa resort, as it was located on a hill surrounded by picturesque hills and forests. Real estate agencies called it " Scotland in Sussex" [1] .
In 1907-1930, writer Arthur Conan Doyle , the author of short stories about Sherlock Holmes, lived in Koruboro.
From 1942 to 1982, radio transmitters were located near Crowborough, including the Aspidistra station, known during the Second World War , [2] and after the war, broadcasts of the BBC External Services to Europe went from here.
