Story

Part 1

Memories

Jack Shepard ( Matthew Fox ) takes flight 815 on an Oceanic Airlines plane and, sitting in its 23A seat, looks out the window. The stewardess approaches him. Jack complains to her that the drinks are not quite strong. Understanding him, a stewardess named Cindy ( Kimberly Joseph ) gives him two small bottles of hard liquor. Jack pours one of them into his glass, and he puts the other into his pocket (this is the bottle he uses on the island when Kate will sew up his wound). Charlie Pace ( Dominic Monaghan ) runs past him, followed by the flight attendant, who asks him to sit down. As soon as the plane shook, the voice of the attendants was heard, asking everyone to sit down and fasten their seat belts. Jack, about to get up, sits down again. Next to him sits a black woman named Rose ( L. Scott Caldwell ), who after the disaster he will save from death. She is very afraid to fly, but according to the assurances of her husband, who is currently in the toilet , it is completely safe. Jack tries to reassure her, but the shaking becomes even greater: the plane begins to fall.

Island

A green eye opens on the screen. It becomes clear that this person, as it turns out later, Jack Shepard, lies on the ground and his eyes are fixed on the sky, where only the tops of the trees are visible. From the thicket appears a dog - a golden labrador . He runs past a lying man and again hides in a dense forest. Jack in a black suit and tie stands up from the ground, shakes himself off and realizes that he was wounded in his left side. He has a small bottle of alcohol in his pocket. He goes to the exit from the thickets, and soon before him appears the sandy shore of the sea.

Then Jack hears screams for help. Glancing around a bit, he sees the wreckage of a fallen plane. It soon becomes clear that he, along with some others, somehow survived in a plane crash. Without understanding anything, Jack begins to run among the wreckage, as he notices a man who was covered in one of the details of the plane. Calling for help from several more escaped passengers, Jack manages to free the wounded. Nearby, a woman screams. Turning around, Jack sees that the one who called for help is pregnant . He runs up to her and learns from Claire Littleton ( Emily de Ravin ), this woman was called so that she may already have contractions and she is already 8 months pregnant. But they had to bend down, as one of the engines of the aircraft pulled a person who was nearby. Seeing another man next to him, and very well-fed, Jack calls him and leaves with Claire. Nearby, Shepard stumbles upon a guy who is trying to help a black woman by giving her a heart massage. But when he sees that he is doing it wrong, Jack himself begins to help her. Boone Carlisle ( Ian Somerhalder ), the same guy, suggests sticking a woman in the throat so that she can breathe. Jack agrees with him and sends him in search of a pen, while he continues to do her artificial respiration. As a result, a woman comes to her senses.

Having caught his breath a little, Jack notices that the wing of the plane, hovering above the ground, is about to crash right to the place where he left Claire and Hugo Reis ( Jorge Garcia ), with that fat passenger. Shepard rushes to them and manages to warn them a second before the wing crashes down, causing a series of explosions. Jack walks away from them again, as Boone runs up to him with many pens. But they are no longer needed.

Helping other passengers, Jack completely forgot about his injury. Therefore, he finds in things on the shore a towel and a box of thread with a needle and goes to a small place on the beach, hidden from the main beach. There, Jack takes off his suit with a shirt and examines his wound. He understands that he himself can not cope. But then a young girl emerges from the thicket, rubbing her wrists, who notices him. Jack asks her to help him repair the wound. The girl, who later turns out to be called Kate Austin ( Evangeline Lilly ), agrees. Jack gives her a bottle of alcohol to rub her hands, and then he pours the contents onto his wound. Having settled on the black color of the threads, Kate begins to sew up Jack's cut.

Meanwhile, the rest begin to slowly come to their senses. Claire stands right near the edge of the water and looks into the distance. Hurley is sorting things out, and Boone is trying to phone someone. A man of Arab appearance named Said Jarrah ( Naveen Andrews ) makes a fire and asks another passenger, who was called Charlie, to follow him, because no one will notice the small fire on the shore. And the black woman Rose, whom Jack saved from death, thanks fate for the second chance.

Sewing Jack's wound, Kate learns that he is a surgeon . Shepard tells her that when he was an intern , he made a mistake during the operation and fear seized him. But, counting to five, he managed to overcome his confusion and feelings and successfully complete the operation. Also on the doctor’s shoulder you can see a tattoo with a large number five in the middle. We can assume that this number just means five seconds, about which he spoke. Kate was struck by his story and, according to her, she would have escaped. But Jack argued with her, since all this time she calmly sutured his wound.

Closer to sunset, all survivors gather on the shore near the fire. Said sits down to Charlie while he writes on his fingers the word "fate" ( English fate ). Boone walks up to a young girl - his half-sister named Shannon Rutherford ( Maggie Grace ). He offers her a snack, but she rejects his offer, as she hopes that the rescuers are already flying after them and she can have dinner with them. Hurley brings pregnant Claire food, and having separated her more than the rest. Korean Jin Kwon ( Daniel Dae Kim ) in conversation with his wife Sung ( Kim Yongjin ) warns her and recommends staying together.

At the same time, Jack examines an unconscious man with a splinter in his chest. Next to him is Kate, who is also interested in the health of this passenger, since, according to her, he was sitting next to her. A little later, Shepard joins the others at the fire and tells the rest of his story about what happened. According to him, the height was about 12 kilometers , as they fell into an air hole and fell 600 meters , after which there was turbulence , and he disconnected. Kate, in turn, saw everything perfectly with her own eyes: first the tail fell off, and then the front part. Jack suggests finding a part of the aircraft with the cockpit, as there may be a transceiver - a transmitting device. But the most important thing is to understand which side they flew from. And then Kate says that she saw smoke in the valley. And if searches are organized, then she will gladly join. Their quiet conversation is interrupted by strange sounds coming from the jungle . Survivors get up from their seats and begin to look inland with frightened and surprised looks. It’s like some kind of monster makes monstrous sounds and brings down trees.

The next morning, Kate walks up to Jack, who was about to go look for the transceiver, and asks to take her with him. Shepard agrees and offers Kate to change shoes. She could only find suitable shoes on a dead passenger. Before going into the jungle, Kate and Jack approach a group of people and tell them that they are going to find a transceiver, which may be in the front of the plane, crashing somewhere nearby. Charlie joins them. Jack also asks to follow a man with a fragment in his chest. Charlie and Kate start a conversation along the way, during which it turns out that he once played in the DriveShaft band.

After some time, despite the brightly shining sun , heavy rain begins to rain . Those who stayed on the shore take shelter under the wreckage of the plane. Terrible sounds again begin to sound and trees to fall, which again frightens all survivors of the plane crash. At this time, the group, set off in search of the transceiver, finds in the forest the front of the fuselage of the plane, which is stuck in the trees. Kate, Jack and Charlie begin to climb the slope, trying to get into the cockpit . After their brief attempts to do this, they manage to get to the door and crack it. Kate and Jack go inside, and Charlie stays outside. In the cockpit, they find a pilot who comes to his senses and tells them the story of what happened. The pilot's name was Seth Norris ( Greg Granberg ). It turns out that after 6 hours of flight they lost contact, so they had to turn around to catch on Fiji . But the plane fell into turbulence, and they turned out to be a thousand kilometers from the place where rescuers had to look for them. In the conversation, Jack calls the number of survivors - 48. The pilot helps them find a transceiver, and Kate goes for Charlie. He comes out of the toilet, but he did not have time to explain what he was doing there, strange sounds begin to be heard outside, and there is something circling around. Because of the windows that have become opaque, the interested pilot has to crawl out, but unexpectedly for everyone, someone pulls him out of an airplane, which crashes from the trees holding him to the ground.

Having quickly rushed back to the jungle, the survivors rush from this place to where. But due to heavy rain, Charlie falls into a puddle, and Jack returns to help him. At this time, Kate who ran away from them is hiding in the thicket. Overwhelmed by fear makes her remember the story of Jack and count to five. After which she begins to call Jack, but Charlie appears in front of her. Together they go on. As soon as the rain ended, they find a dead pilot lying high on the branches of a tree. Jack comes out of the thicket to them, who, just like them, did not see who did it.

Part 2

Memories

Charlie recalls the last minutes on the plane before falling. He sits at the end of the plane and is nervous. Stewardesses became interested in him. They want to talk to him, but Charlie runs forward, pushing Jack , Shannon and Boone along the way. Then he runs into the toilet, and the plane gets into turbulence. In the toilet, he wants to take heroin , and we understand that he is a drug addict. But the plane begins to fall, and Charlie drops heroin and flies out of the toilet. He crawls from the front of the plane to the middle, where he is stunned by a food cart.

Kate also recalls the last minutes before the disaster. She sits next to Edward Mars ( Fredrik Lena ) - a man who was later wounded by a shrapnel in the stomach. Kate is handcuffed, and we understand that Mars is the police bailiff who escorts Kate. We understand that she is a criminal. The plane begins to fall, a heavy suitcase hits Mars, stuns him, and Kate pulls a handcuff from her pocket and then puts an oxygen mask on Mars and herself. Then the tail of the plane comes off behind, Kate is breathing heavily, and police Mars is unconscious.

Island

Claire is talking to Shannon. The girls begin to confide with each other, and Shannon says that Boone is her brother. Claire, in turn, says that she has not felt her baby since falling to the island. Meanwhile, Jack, Kate and Charlie return to the beach with a transceiver . Meanwhile, James “Sawyer” Ford ( Josh Holloway ) and Arab Said Jarrah are arguing (Sawyer thinks that Said is a terrorist and that the plane crashed due to his fault). They fight, after which Said and Sawyer are pulled away. After the fight, Said says that he once served in the Iraqi army and is versed in radio engineering . He also says that the transceiver is working, it does not pick up any signals, and the charge is very small, so he suggests going up the mountain in the center of the whole island and sending a signal about the plane crash. Several more people decide to go with him: Sawyer, Kate, Charlie, Shannon and Boone. After that they leave.

Jack, as the only doctor among the survivors, remains with policeman Edward Mars, who was seriously injured in a plane crash. He has a splinter in his chest, and he needs to be urgently pulled out, but the conditions for the operation are extremely difficult. However, Hurley helps Jack, and he still manages to get the shard out of his chest. After that, Mars wakes up and tries to warn Jack about someone (as it will be known, he will later tell about Kate as a criminal who was on the plane, and will also assure Jack that no one believes her). However, Jack does not understand who the bailiff is talking about, and the policeman does not have time to tell the name of the criminal and the details and turns off.

At this time, everyone who goes with Said goes to the mountain through the jungle. Suddenly a polar bear is trying to attack them. Everyone except Sawyer tries to run away from him, but Sawyer suddenly pulls out a gun and kills the bear. No one can understand where the polar bear came from on the island, in the jungle, in a tropical climate, but Kate is more worried about something else. She asks Sawyer where he got his gun from. He says he stole it from Edward Mars, a wounded cop.

Said finally reached the top of the mountain. He tries to send a message to the rescuers, but it is blocked by another message. The girl speaks in it, she speaks French, and therefore no one can understand anything from her message. It turns out that Shannon - Boone's sister - lived in France for a year and knows French . She translates the message of the Frenchwoman, and it turns out that she is praying for salvation, and says that everyone died from something terrible. By the number of repetitions, Said determines that the message spun for 16 years.
