The race was part of the cycling festival of the same name, the program of which included various recreational activities. In addition to professional competition, the traditional event of the festival was a massive amateur race ( grand fondo ), in which more than 12,000 cyclists took part in 2013. The event along the route was observed by about 300 thousand residents of Berlin and visitors to the city. [one]
