History

Villa Spete was built in Gera, at the then Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße 1, in 1910 according to the design of the sought-after city architect Karl Zankera (see also Villa Maurer ) for local manufacturer Paul Späte, who ordered a new family residence in 1909 [1] . Grandfather Paul - Wilhelm Späte founded a company in the city, which was originally engaged in the production of harmonics , and later became known as a manufacturer of pianos and pianos . After the death of Paul Shpet his daughter Erna, who married the manufacturer of working tools Pertel, inherited the villa. In 1933 she separated the dressage of the building from the rest of the rooms, and in 1938 turned the villa into a house into three apartments: the architect Schmidt ( German MW Schmidt ) was responsible for the reconstruction. The large garden of the villa, which previously reached Zabelshtrasse, was already separated in the era of the GDR and now there is a kindergarten and another house on this territory.

Villa Späte was renovated in 1974 and 1993: during this period it was used by the city statistical office, and after the reunification of Germany it served as an office for a consulting firm. From the end of 2011 to mid-2014, the villa was overhauled and renovated by its current owners: the facade of the building was completely renovated using original parts from the beginning of the 20th century. The interior of the building was restored division into three apartments, each of which occupied the entire floor. The original parquet brought by Paul Shpete from the USA in 1910 was restored. Currently, the villa is named after the founder of the city of Adelgeida I Quedlinburg .

Description

The square building in the projection of the villa - built in neo-baroque style , although having separate elements from the modern style - has a base length of 15 m. The structure of the villa is almost cubic, proportional and clearly structured; the building is completed with a mansard roof; its rectangular windows are framed with stucco . The main entrance is located on the north side of the house: an open veranda of sandstone leading to the staircase leads to the portal . The porch itself is decorated with arched windows. In the west there is a bay window , which also serves as a first floor balcony. The western facade originally provided access to the extensive garden of the villa. The premises in the house - including the dining room, guest room, kitchen and winter garden - are wood-paneled; there is a fountain in the winter garden.

The garden pavilion, originally installed in the southeast corner of the garden, was moved to the southwest corner during one of the many renovations. In 2013, it was completely rebuilt using, as far as possible, the original wooden parts and is located in such a way as to serve as a counterweight to the construction of the villa, which has lost most of its garden.
