King Mindaugas Cup ( lit. Karaliaus Mindaugo taurė ) is an annual basketball tournament played among the teams representing the Lithuanian championship . The tournament was organized by the Lithuanian Basketball League and was named in honor of King Mindaugas , the founder of the first dynasty and King of Lithuania .

History
The new tournament was solemnly presented on December 1, 2015 and replaced the Lithuanian Cup that preceded it, as well as the Star Weekend of the Lithuanian Championship , was held for three days on February 19-21, 2016 at the Siemens Arena in Vilnius . [1] On February 18, 2016, it was announced that Kaunas would take the second draw. [2]
Format
The tournament is held among the eight best teams of the Lithuanian championship in the middle of the current season and is organized according to the Olympic system . Since 2017, each game of the quarter-finals has been held on the site of the team representing the tournament in the format of the Final Four .
As part of the Cup, a top-shot competition and a three-pointer competition are also held. In addition, all competitions are held with the participation of invited musicians and artists. [3]
