Jacob Lagovari ( roman. Iacob N. Lahovari ; January 16, 1846 , Bucharest , United Principality of Wallachia and Moldavia - February 7, 1907 , Paris , France ) - Romanian military leader and statesman, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Romania (1904-1907).

Biography

In 1884 he graduated from the Bucharest Military Officer School, in 1870 - then the Paris Polytechnic University , in 1870 - the Paris Sorbonne University with a degree in mathematics. He was a professor of mathematics at the University of Bucharest .

Both of his brothers: Alexander Lagovari and Ion Lagovari also held ministerial posts in the government of the Kingdom of Romania.

Member of the War of Independence (1877-1878) as head of the operational department of the General Staff. In the years 1887-1890. - Deputy chief, for one acted as chief of the General Staff.

In 1900 he received the rank of general and retired from military service. He was elected deputy and senator.

He was part of the government. In 1891-1894 and 1899-1901. - Minister of War, from 1904 until the end of his life - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Romania.

He was buried in the cemetery of Bella Bucharest.
