Biography

Wilhelm Friedrich Philippe Ferdinand Lotz was born on April 12, 1853 in the city of Kassel; by religion - a Christian . He studied theology at the universities of Leipzig and Göttingen . In 1880, he received a doctorate in Leipzig [1] [2] .

Upon graduation, Wilhelm Lotz was accepted as an ordinary professor of theology at the University of Vienna [3] , from 1897 he became an ordinary professor in the department of Old Testament exegesis at the University of Erlangen and director of the seminary on Old Testament exegesis at the same university [4] [5] .

Of his works, the following are best known: “ Inschr. Tiglathpilesers ", I, 1880; “ Quest. de hist. sabbati ", 1883; " Gesch. d. Offenbarung im AT ", 1892; " D. Bundeslade ", 1901; “ D. Alt. Testam. ud Wiss. ", 1905; " Kurzgefas. hebr. Sprachlehre ", 1908; " Biblische Urgeschichte ", 1907; Patriarchen , 1908. In addition, Lotz owns a number of articles in the theological encyclopedia of the Duke-Gauck, including: Dekalog , Ephod , Jehu , Jahr, Sabbath , Sterne [5] .

Wilhelm Friedrich Philip Ferdinand Lotz died on December 30, 1928 in Erlangen [6] [7] .
