Geography

The village is located in the eastern part of the Belgorod region, in the upper reaches of the river called Tikhaya Sosna (the right tributary of the Don ), 6.8 km in a straight line east of the regional center of Volokonovka .

Historical Review

In 1788, the landowner Evdokim Shidlovsky acquired several families of peasants in the Moscow province and part from another landowner in the Tula region, with which he lived on the Pokrovsky farm. A farm or, as it became known as a “village”, Pokrovskoye is located along a tributary of a river called Silent Pine. The peasants included many Old Believers [2] .

After the revolution of 1917, the land of the landowner was divided among the peasants. Sole farms that existed until 1930 were formed in the village of Pokrovka. There were also partnerships for “joint land cultivation” (POPs), which included more prosperous individual farms. During the period of collectivization , the Vyborzhets collective farm was formed, but it quickly fell apart. Then the collective farm “Silent Pine” was formed [3] .

In 1859, in the Biryuchensky district, "the village owner Pokrovskoye at the Tikhaya Sosna River," "along the highway to the city of Kharkov, " there were 29 yards.

In 1900, in the Biryuchensky district of the Assumption volost, the village of Pokrovskoye (the former estate of Nikolai Iliodorovich Shidlovsky) on the Tikhaya Sosna River - 75 yards, 486 acres of land. In the village there is Pokrovskaya church, 2 public buildings, a petty and wine shop.

Since July 1928, the “Pokrovskoye settlement” in the Volokonovsky district has been the center of the Pokrovsky village council (which included the settlement itself, the villages of Krasnaya Niva, Nazarkino and Turkovo, the village of Pytnoe, Schepkin and the Tavrichesky state farm).

In 1958, in the Pokrovsky village council of the Volokonovsky district, the village of Pokrovka, the village of Uspenka, the Tauride village and the village of Krasnaya Niva, Krasnoye Gorodishche, Nazarkin, Novoselovka, Pytny, Turkov and Schepkin.

In 1972, the Pokrovsky village council was made up of the villages of Alekseevka, Krasnoye Gorodishche, Lazurnoe , Pokrovka proper, and Uspenka.

In 1997, the village of Pokrovka in the Volokonovsky district was the center of the Pokrovsky rural district, which included the villages of Krasnoye Gorodishche, Lazurnoye, Pokrovka, Assumption, Krasnaya Niva, Pytnychny and Schepkin farms.

In 2006, the village of Pokrovka - the center of the Pokrovsky rural settlement (5 villages and 2 farms) of the Volokonovsky district [4] .

Population

In 1859, in the village of Pokrovsky there were 614 inhabitants (299 men, 315 women).

In 1900, in the village of Pokrovsky there were 732 inhabitants (357 men, 375 women).

On January 1, 1932 in the settlement of Pokrovsky 1063 inhabitants.

According to censuses in the village of Pokrovka on January 17, 1979, 593 residents, on January 1, 1989 - 866 (409 men, 457 women), on January 1, 1994 - 952 residents and 284 households.

In 1997 - 294 yards, 926 inhabitants [4] .

Infrastructure

As of 1995, in the village of Pokrovsky there were: AOZT Pobeda (pig breeding), first-aid post, House of Culture, library, high school [4] .

Attractions

The rural school has a local history museum, one of the best in the region, among its exhibits is the folder “A Brief History of the Village of Pokrovka” [4] .

  • Kuzma Fedorovich Vetchinkin (1912-1986) - Colonel of the border troops of the KGB of the USSR , participant in the Great Patriotic War , Hero of the Soviet Union (1941).
